American
Chestnut
Around
the turn of the century, settlers from Pennsylvania brought enough
Chestnut seed with them to plant a grove of Chestnut trees in La
Crosse, Wisconsin. These
products are made from Chestnut wood that
originates from that seed. The original grove of trees where the
Pennsylvania settlers gathered seed succumbed to disease and no
longer exists. The American
Chestnut tree is rapidly disappearing from the eastern United
States, and in parts of the Midwest. Some trees grew to 20 feet in
diameter. American Chestnut wood has a warm glowing quality that
makes a room come alive. A product of Kitchen Carvers made
from the American Chestnut tree will become more valuable as the
years go by.
